The Challenge
Axis is a platform that helps corporate affairs teams understand and track business, policy, and regulatory environments. But the product had two major issues:
A dated user interface that hindered engagement
Lack of scalable UX patterns as the product matured
A growing need to integrate generative AI without overwhelming users
I joined as the sole product designer to lead the redesign, bring consistency to the experience, and design a new interface for interacting with the knowledge base through AI.
My Role
As the lead (and only) designer, I owned the product design process end to end:
Audited the existing product and UX debt
Collaborated closely with founders, engineers, and researchers
Built and shipped the company’s first design system
Led a full redesign of the platform UI
Designed and iterated on a new AI interface to explore insights within the platform
Key Initiatives & Impact
1. Design System — A Scalable Foundation
The existing UI lacked consistency and scalability. I created the first design system using Figma components and tokens, reducing engineering ambiguity and speeding up design velocity.
Results:
40% faster delivery from design to code
Unified user experience across complex workflows

2. UI Modernization — A Fresh Look and Feel
I reimagined the visual design to reflect the sophistication of our users (Fortune 500 teams and advisors). Clean typography, intuitive spacing, and improved navigation made the product feel faster and more trustworthy.
Before/After comparisons were used in stakeholder reviews to showcase progress and build momentum.

3. Generative AI Interface — Making Corporate Knowledge More Searchable
Users had difficulty parsing dense documentation and needed better ways to explore insights. I designed a conversational AI assistant that allowed users to:
Ask natural-language questions about policies or companies
Get summarized responses, sources, and related content
Easily pivot their search by following guided queries
Outcome:
Doubled user engagement with longform content
Reduced time-to-insight by 60%

Reflections
My time at Axis sharpened my ability to work independently with high ambiguity while driving meaningful change. It also deepened my passion for designing AI-driven tools that enhance human understanding.
